We have just renewed our yearly subscription to the Design Business Association (DBA) which promotes best practice in the design industry.

Criteria for membership includes a Code of Conduct outlined as a series of business behaviour guidelines including competency, integrity, confidentiality and originality.

At its heart, the DBA stands for effective design – something that we at Hudson Fuggle strive to achieve in all our work.

A gift from Leeds

As well as this jaw-breaking toffee and a smashing cup of Yorkshire Tea, we also picked up two awards on our trip to Leeds last week.

The annual Heist awards are the ‘Oscars’ for education marketing and we are proud to have been recognised for our work with City University (Best Internal Communications Campaign) and Anglia Ruskin University (Best Part-Time Publication).

We were presented with our haul by the brilliant actor Simon Callow and followed our successes with a small sherry or two in the bar afterwards.

The Iron Lady in Bermondsey Street

One of the reasons I love working in this area is that there is always something happening…

Wandering along Bermondsey Street a couple of days ago, looking to grab a quick sandwich, when I spied a new Grocery shop. On closer inspection it turned out to be part of a film set for The Iron Lady, a forthcoming biopic about former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, starring Meryl Streep which is scheduled for release later this year.

Sadly, there was no sign of Meryl, but I managed to grab a couple of shots of the amazing set and the extra’s, complete with gas mask boxes and 1940′s hairdos.

Alan Kitching Exhibition

AK2

We had the pleasure of working with Alan Kitching at the Typography Workshop to produce the 2008 Hudson Fuggle calendar, which some of you might recall. Alan has a terrific exhibition celebrating 20 years of his latest letterpress work at Advanced Graphics London which is only a five minute walk away from the office – perfectly placed to fill a lunch hour.
